God I remember driving a cargo van version for Schaumburg Honda parts. Worst winter ( or rain) vehicle I’ve ever driven. I swear 2wd square bodies got better traction in snow.

Only 4 grand? That’s a NP

How does this still exist in the rust belt????
Obviously it was someone’s summer toy.

It’s amazing, and a few miles from my childhood home.
This popped up underneath that listing as a recommended listing.

My dad worked for a Toyota dealer in northern VT when these were new. The brakes on the 2WD version weren’t strong enough to overpower the torque converter so in the snow it would just lock the fronts up and keep going unless you put it in neutral. Several of them went over the embankment and down to the lower parking tier in the storage lot at the dealer.

It must have been garaged and meticulously cared for. It’s not my jam, but I have to off my hat at the the accomplishment.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:26 |

that...kinda makes sense.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:27 |

Yeah these things were not Toyota’s best.

OMG WHY HASN’T MISS MERCEDES BOUGHT THIS YET

Wow, I’m having strong flashbacks to the same van that my family had when I was a pre-teen/teen. Almost tempting to buy this and give it to my mother as a joke, but she wouldn’t find it funny.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:41 |

Wow, that’s pretty bad!
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:42 |

Daaaaaaang!
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:42 |

LOL! No, this will stand out. Murder vans blend in.

Bwahahaha!
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:43 |

Agreed on both counts.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:43 |

Judging by how solid the paint is on top of the lack of rot? Spent most of its life in a garage.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:44 |

You’re right ... but w ho the hell keeps a gold minivan as a summer toy?
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:44 |
|
Haha!
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:44 |
|
I agree. Although I don’t want it.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:44 |
|
It fits this vehicle perfectly.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:45 |
|
It also must never have left the garage from October-April. Like, ever.

You do realize we are on oppo, there’s a few of us who would do that.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:50 |
|
Solid point.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:53 |
|
Wonder if it’s a more recent import from a part of the country that doesn’t get salted?
![]() 01/27/2020 at 14:56 |
|
huh......fair point
![]() 01/27/2020 at 15:20 |
|
I do want it. However, I don’t need two cars.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 15:47 |

So. . . it must be one of us! The crai glist ad was sent from inside the house Oppo!

My parents bought one of those in 1984, same color with a manual . I was the only kid I knew who learned to drive in something with a mid-engined an d manual transmission.

Have you met my vans?
![]() 01/27/2020 at 16:02 |

Look closer at the pics. It has obvious rot in the front fenders and what looks like a shoddy bondo job in the sliding door.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 16:06 |
|
Good catch!
![]() 01/27/2020 at 16:21 |
|
When you do a lot of body work, shoddy work sticks out.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 16:25 |

seen em
yeah okay...you dont fit the mould

Oh wow. while the miles are lower, my 84 5MT LE (at 121K) could probably crack more than $4000 then! Better condition (and more equipment). It’s lived its whole life in Cleveland, so I guess midwestern survivors are creeping back up in value :)
![]() 01/27/2020 at 17:42 |

If it was actually rust free, I’d say NP. Given the rust and the little dent on the back corner, I think it probably needs to be less, but it could still be an interesting ride for someone.
![]() 01/27/2020 at 18:51 |
|
Yeah, now that the rust has been pointed out, I agree.
